"What The Press Is Saying About

Live In Denmark"

New Album By Blues-Rock Powerhouse

Dana Fuchs on Ruf Records

"Live In Denmark is not to be missed! Dana is, it seems, the reincarnation of Janis Joplin! Fuch's sound is like the good old days of the sixties and seventies. It's raw, with no frills. The whole record is good, with a cover of the Stones' Sympathy For The Devil at the end, a mix of finesse and brutality that makes this track a must. A very good live blues-rock album."

BLUES MAGAZINE (FRANCE)

"Intense blues rocker who delivers her lyrics with raspy grit and a distinctive bite. Fuchs has never bared her soul and roared like a lion better than in this performance. Simultaneously vulnerable and powerful, Fuchs relentlessly powers through a set of eight originals and two covers. Buckle up and tune in to “Double Down on Wrong,” “Hard Road,” “Blue Mist Road,” “Superman,” “Nothing You Own,” “Home Is Where the Hatred Is,” “Borrowed Time,” “Battle Lines” and “Curtain Call."

CHICAGO BLUES GUIDE

"What makes Live In Denmark really special is that it's completely natural -- no overdubs or post-production fixes. You get 100% of what Fuchs and the band sound like live: a three-piece, plus vocals, powerhouse. The musicians here create a huge sound for a three-piece band, sound great, and are the perfect accompaniment to the smoking hot vocals of Fuchs. I would encourage you to catch her live if possible, and if not, do the next best thing and get your hands and ears on Live In Denmark."

BLUES ROCK REVIEW

"Gently striding into her recent release on a demanding groove, Dana Fuchs hammers out an anthem for troubled times in “Double Down on Wrong,” opening Live In Denmark and setting the standard for hard-hitting Blues from the album. Electric guitar strums pave a path for the slow-trudging beat in “Battle Lines” as Live in Denmark pounds out a groove for “Borrowed Time” and slowly drifts over dangerous ground in “Blue Mist Road”." Fuchs scratches out chords to construct an angular framework for “Curtain Close” before making an exit for Live in Denmark covering The Rolling Stones with “Sympathy for the Devil.”

THE ALTERNATE ROOT

"This outstanding set was recorded at Godset in Kolding, Denmark in October of last year. Dana Fuchs handles the vocals and plays acoustic guitar, cajón, and tambourine, backed by Jon Diamond (guitar/backing vocals), Piero Perelli (drums), and Kevin Mackall (bass). Live In Denmark captures Dana Fuchs at her best. Her vocals are always dynamite, but these songs all have that tough, but tender quality that makes the blues what it is. If you're not familiar with Ms. Fuchs' music, this is a good starting point, but you will definitely want to dig deeper afterwards."

BLUES BYTES

"With no overdubs or post-production fixes, what you hear with this recording is a straight-up unbridled performance from one of the best blues-rockers in the biz. Once I hear the thunderous beat and hard-driving rhythm of the show opener “Double Down on Wrong”, I am all-in. Between John Diamond’s searing guitar solo and Fuchs’ lyrical critique of government and religion, this track lands as a top favorite. "This fiery, high-energy show is truly lightning-in-a-bottle. Dana Fuchs’ Live in Denmark rocks hard and is best heard at a loud volume."

PHILLY CHEEZE BLUES

"We are ALWAYS looking forward to the next gem from blues/rock dynamo Dana Fuchs, but her new live album Live In Denmark was even more than we expected! Dana has the power and stamina of greats such as Janis Joplin and Mick Jagger."

BLUES DELUXE (SYNDICATED RADIO PROGRAM)

"Live In Denmark opens with the edgy “Double Down on Wrong,” with Jon Diamond’s guitar recalling the excitement of Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” Piero Perelli’s drums adding power, and Kevin Mackall’s bass holding it all together. “Blue Mist Road" has haunting storytelling like a 'Twilight Zone' episode. The title song from Borrowed Time is catchy with a Tom Petty-like bounce and the harmonies come through nicely, which is nice to watch in the live video."

GOLDMINE

"One of the most powerful blues singers working today, Dana Fuchs has captured lightning in a bottle with Live In Denmark.  Recorded on a single night last October in Kolding, Denmark, this is an intense album with no overdubs or post-production fixes -- it’s a force of nature. Fuchs’ raw power is on full display here, placing her on the same level as singers like Janis Joplin, and her band grooves most excellently. This is well-balanced disc between hot rockin’ numbers like Double Down On Wrong (the opening track) and heartbreaking blues ballads like Nothing You Own, which put Dana’s vocal gifts on full display. Live In Denmark is one of those albums every blues/rock fan should check out."

THE ROCK DOCTOR

"Live In Denmark starts out with a real belter, 'Double Down On Wrong.' Fuchs uses her powerful voice to raise the stakes and growl her way through the song. She keeps it dark and dangerous and keeps the listener on edge. 'Superman' is a real screamer, and Fuchs is in good form. The lyrics are a little surreal and paint a wild picture. I truly wonder how she can sustain the strain on her voice as she sings these songs. Take No Prisoners!" Dana Fuchs is a true road warrior; Live In Denmark is a good substitute and should belong in any blues fan’s library. It’s rough and gritty and gets under your skin in a good way. Recommended."

SUBSTACK

"Fuchs is a natural performer, tall and rangy, long hair flowing and commanding the stage and the audience’s attention, backed up by a fine band. On the ten tracks here, Fuchs demonstrates singing with power and emotion, her lyrics demonstrating her hard life. Tracks such as ‘Home Is Where The Hatred Is’ are all about addiction and the darker side of life while ‘Battle Lines’ touches on the difficulties in forming relationships while you are on the road. Dana Fuchs is a terrific performer, sadly not often seen in the UK. Failing that, Live In Denmark is a stron reminder of what we've been missing. They say that if you want to sing the Blues, you have to have lived the Blues, and Dana Fuchs' voice definitely tells you that she has."

MUSIC-NEWS.COM (UK)

This past March Ruf Records announced the release of Live In Denmarkby Blues-rock powerhouse Dana Fuchs. Recorded in a single, unforgettable night at Godset in Kolding, Denmark, in October 2025, Live In Denmark captures the raw intensity, emotional depth, and unfiltered power that have made Fuchs one of the most compelling voices in contemporary blues-rock.
Recorded with no overdubs or post-production fixes — just voice, guitars, bass, and drums— Live In Denmarkis a fearless snapshot of Fuchs at her most vulnerable and most powerful. What began as a one-night, high-pressure recording session during her fall Danish tour became a deeply personal turning point.

"Last fall, I went to Denmark for a mini tour, and my label, Ruf Records, and my manager decided we should record a live album there. My previous record, Borrowed Time, was under-served because of the pandemic, and this felt like a chance to make things right. But here's the thing, we had ONE night to capture it. No safety net, no second chances, no fixing anything in post. Just my voice, guitar, bass, and drums, and a short time to mix. I was skeptical, to say the least.” -DF
Following several challenging years, the performance stands as a cathartic and powerful creative resurgence — raw, honest, and alive in ways Fuchs never expected could be captured on record: “When I finally sat down and listened to what we'd captured, I wept. I remember thinking, 'damn, I wish so many people who have never heard me before could hear this' and I never feel that way about my own work. To be honest, it's been a brutal couple of years in many ways, but these hard times have revealed something essential to me, I need to get back to doing what I was born to do, and that is to make music and perform.” - DF

Live In Denmark showcases Dana Fuchs’ legendary stage presence in its purest form: unfiltered, powerful, and deeply moving, reaffirming her status as one of blues-rock’s most authentic performers. “This album Live in Denmark is raw, honest, and alive in ways I didn't think were possible to capture. It's me at my most vulnerable and most powerful, all at once. Thanks for sticking with me through everything. I cannot wait to get back out there starting in Germany this spring and share this music with all of you again," says Fuchs.
Dana Fuchs returned to Europe in the Spring of 2026 for a short tour beginning in Germany, bringing the energy of Live In Denmark to audiences across the region.
